About Us

A Future Worth Building.

Angels Among Us Foundation was born from a simple conviction: every child with a disability deserves the opportunity to belong, grow, and thrive β€” close to home, surrounded by community. We are building that future together.

Our Mission

To build the first Special Needs Family Resource Center serving the Short Creek Area β€” a permanent home where children with disabilities can access therapy, inclusive recreation, Family Navigation, and a community that believes every child belongs.

Our Vision

A Short Creek where every child is known, celebrated, and supported. Where a diagnosis is not a ceiling β€” and where families find hope, connection, and the resources they need without leaving their community.

Our Community

We are neighbors, parents, educators, and volunteers united by one belief: inclusion makes everyone stronger. Our community is built one connection at a time β€” in Short Creek, for Short Creek, for generations to come.

Why Angels Among Us Exists

Born from experience. Built for every family.

Angels Among Us campus rendering β€” a welcoming place where Short Creek families will find belonging and support

Future campus rendering β€” Angels Among Us Family Resource Center

Angels Among Us was not born in a boardroom. It was born somewhere much more ordinary β€” in the daily reality of raising a child with a disability in a rural community, where finding the right therapy meant clearing your schedule for the day, where a specialist appointment required crossing state lines, and where something as simple as inclusive recreation felt like a luxury that existed somewhere else. For other families.

We know those drives. We know the waiting rooms in cities hours away. We know what it feels like to watch your child thrive in a program you can barely afford to reach β€” and to wonder, quietly, whether families with fewer resources ever get there at all. In Short Creek, too many do not.

That realization changed everything. Because this was never just about our child. It was about every child in this community who deserves access to therapy, to trusted guidance, to meaningful recreation, to a place where they are known and celebrated β€” without their family having to leave the community they love to find it.

"No family should have to travel hours just to feel supported. That is why we are building something right here."
β€” Angels Among Us Foundation

So in 2023, we founded Angels Among Us β€” not as a distant organization sending resources from afar, but as neighbors. As parents. As people who live here and intend to stay. We are building the first Special Needs Family Resource Center for the Short Creek Area, because we believe our community deserves a permanent place where hope is not something you have to drive to find.

We are building more than a resource center. We are building a place where children with disabilities are celebrated for exactly who they are, where families find connection and guidance close to home, and where future generations β€” children not yet born, families not yet here β€” will grow up knowing they belong. That is the vision. And we would love for you to be part of building it.

Belonging

Every child is welcomed. Every family is seen. No one navigates alone.

Connection

Neighbors become community. Community becomes strength.

Opportunity

Close to home, within reach β€” for every family, regardless of circumstance.

Legacy

Built for today. Enduring for generations yet to come.

Our Foundation

Rooted in community. Built for generations.

Angels Among Us Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity, established in 2023 and rooted in the Short Creek Area. We are not a distant organization sending resources from afar β€” we are neighbors, parents, and community members who chose to build something lasting right here.

Every dollar donated, every hour volunteered, every partnership formed goes directly toward building the future we have promised β€” a place where children with disabilities can access the support they deserve, and where families can find community without leaving the community they love.

We are not finished. Short Creek is growing, and the needs of its families are growing with it. But the foundation does not shift: every child belongs, every family matters, and community is something we build together β€” right here, one connection at a time.

By the Numbers

A foundation built on purpose.

Every number here represents a family that no longer walks alone, a child who found their place, and a community that chose to show up.

What We Stand For

Four commitments that guide everything

Hope

We lead with possibility. Every child has a future worth building toward β€” and we are committed to helping build it, one step at a time.

Belonging

No family navigates alone. We create the connections, spaces, and community that turn neighbors into a lasting support network.

Dignity

Every child is seen as whole β€” not defined by a diagnosis, but celebrated for exactly who they are and who they are becoming.

Possibility

We focus on what children can do, and create the conditions for them to discover their own strength, joy, and potential.

Our Vision

More than a building. A place that changes everything.

Angels Among Us is building a permanent Family Resource Center where children with disabilities and their families can find belonging, opportunity, trusted support, recreation, and community β€” all close to home. Four spaces. One vision. A future that belongs to every family in Short Creek.

Children playing together in an inclusive, welcoming space

A Place to Belong

Where every child is known.

From the moment a family walks through our doors, they will feel it β€” this place was built for them. Children with disabilities will find friends here, not just programs. Families will find community, not just services. No one will have to explain themselves or fight to be included. Belonging will simply be the expectation.

A child engaged in a creative activity, discovering new skills

A Place to Grow

Where confidence is discovered.

Sensory-friendly spaces, life-skills development, creative activities, and educational programs designed to meet each child where they are β€” and help them go further than they imagined. Growth here is not measured against a standard. It is measured against yesterday.

Children playing on an inclusive adaptive playground

A Place to Play

Where joy has no barriers.

An inclusive playground, a covered splash pad, therapeutic recreation, and adaptive activities designed for every ability. Play is not a reward here β€” it is the point. Because children who play together grow up knowing they belong together.

A parent and child meeting with a family navigator in a warm, welcoming space

A Place to Support Families

Where no one navigates alone.

Family Navigation, trusted resources, caregiver support, respite opportunities, and the kind of community connections that strengthen families from the inside out. Because when a family is supported, a child thrives. And when families in Short Creek thrive, the whole community is stronger.

Every child deserves the opportunity to belong. Every family deserves support close to home. Together, we are building that future.

Caregiver Support

The Hidden Weight Caregivers Carry

Raising a child with significant support needs is one of the most profound acts of love a person can offer. It is also one of the most exhausting. Not because the love runs out β€” it never does β€” but because the weight of that love is carried almost entirely alone.

Many caregivers in Short Creek spend their days navigating a maze of therapy appointments, school meetings, medical specialists, and service systems that were not designed with their family in mind. They become experts in their child's diagnosis not by choice, but by necessity. They learn to advocate loudly in rooms where they feel invisible. They carry a calendar full of appointments and a heart full of worry β€” and they do it again tomorrow.

The vigilance required to protect a child who cannot always communicate distress is a particular kind of exhaustion. It does not clock out. It follows caregivers into sleep, into quiet moments, into the spaces where rest is supposed to live. Over months and years, that sustained alertness takes a real toll β€” on physical health, on marriages, on siblings who learn early that their needs come second, on careers quietly set aside.

"Many families spend years living in survival mode β€” not because they are struggling, but because the system asks them to."

Respite care β€” the simple gift of a few trusted hours β€” is something many families cannot access. When a child has complex communication needs, leaving them with someone unfamiliar is not a small ask. It is a risk that many parents are not willing to take, even when they are running on empty. So they stay. And they carry on.

Compassion fatigue is real. Caregiver burnout is real. Isolation β€” the quiet kind that comes from feeling like no one else truly understands β€” is real. These are not signs of weakness. They are the natural result of extraordinary love sustained without adequate support.

Angels Among Us exists to support the entire family β€” not only the child. We believe that when a caregiver receives encouragement, trusted resources, genuine respite, and a community that truly understands, something remarkable happens: the child thrives, the family grows stronger, and the whole community benefits.

Family Navigation, caregiver support, and community connection are not extras. They are the foundation. Because a parent who feels seen and supported can show up more fully for their child. And a child who grows up surrounded by that kind of community grows up knowing, without question, that they belong.

Every child deserves a place to belong. Every caregiver deserves a place to breathe.

"The future we are building is not just a place. It is a promise β€” that in Short Creek, every child will grow up knowing they belong."
