U.S. National Park Service

FREE Lifetime National Parks Access Pass

Families of children and adults with permanent disabilities may qualify for a FREE Lifetime Access Pass to National Parks and more than 2,000 federal recreation sites.

This pass may help families enjoy outdoor spaces, national parks, and recreation areas at little or no cost.

Who may qualify

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • Children or adults with a permanent physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory disability
  • This may include autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, mobility disabilities, vision or hearing impairment, and other permanent disabilities

What it may include

  • Free entrance to participating National Parks
  • Free admission for the pass holder and accompanying passengers at parks that charge per vehicle
  • Discounts on some camping and recreation fees where available

What families may need

  • Proof of permanent disability, such as a physician letter or official disability documentation
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
  • Parent or guardian identification when applying for a child

Utah DSPD — Division of Services for People with Disabilities

Utah's Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) provides long-term services and supports for eligible Utah residents with developmental disabilities — including residential support, day programs, employment services, and assistance for families caring for a loved one at home.

Many families in our community are unaware that DSPD exists, or they delay looking into it because the process feels distant or complicated. What families often don't realize is that eligibility determination and waiting lists can take years — which means the earlier a family begins the process, the better positioned they will be when services are needed most.

Apply as early as possible.

If your child may qualify for DSPD services, we encourage you to begin the application process now — even if services feel far off. Establishing eligibility early can make a meaningful difference for your family's future planning. You do not have to have everything figured out to take the first step.

Start with your school district

Your local school district is legally required to evaluate your child for free and provide services if eligible. This is often the fastest path to support.

You are your child's best advocate

No one knows your child like you do. Trust your instincts, ask questions, and don't be afraid to push for what your child needs.

Find your people

Connecting with other families who understand your experience is one of the most powerful things you can do — for yourself and your child.

Take it one step at a time

The system can feel overwhelming. Focus on the next step, not the whole staircase. Explore the resources on this page and reach out to providers directly.

Angels Among Us Foundation is working toward opening a Special Needs Family Resource Center for children and families throughout the Short Creek Area.

Our vision includes therapy services, inclusive recreation, parent education, support groups, family events, adaptive programs, and community partnerships.

These programs are part of our long-term vision and are not yet available. Together, with community support, we can make this vision a reality.

Angels Among Us Foundation is currently in the fundraising and development phase.

Our website shares trusted community resources and our long-term vision for a Special Needs Family Resource Center. While we are not yet providing direct services, every donation, sponsorship, volunteer, and community partnership brings us one step closer to opening our doors and serving families throughout the Short Creek Area.
